Typographic principles such as visual path, kerning, leading, drop caps, size, and contrast must work to communicate within the piece.
Type and imagery must be balanced and unified in style. Elements must also display contrast and have an visual path that leads the animation from one segment to the next. Consitency and use of repitition and patterns is very important. When using emphais be selective and use it wisely. Above all stick to the rules and systems you have designed.
Select colors that aide in the communication of mood and tone of piece. Use color for emphasis and contrast. Stick to a color pallete. Each color you add dilutes the impact of your already selected colors, stay within 5 colors.
